5 Steps To A Perfect Shower

When taking a shower, it is not very common to stop to think if the way we clean the body is adequate or if we spend a lot of time in the process. We just shower!

However, it is important to keep in mind some habits that can help complement the hygiene routine. Here are 5 steps to a perfect shower.

1. Time and frequency are important

In Western culture, not showering every day is considered a bad habit. In fact, this often leads to hygiene jokes from people who choose to bathe from time to time or use other cleaning methods.

However, from a strictly health perspective, bathing every day in certain ways could backfire on your skin. This is because water and bath gels damage epithelial tissue by drying it out and prevent the generation of substances that are naturally secreted and act as infection protection agents.

In this case, it is recommended to bathe every other day, since a higher frequency would be unnecessary if you do not live in a warm and humid area. It is also not necessary if the daily routine does not require a lot of physical activity. However, this depends on the preferences of each person.

On the other hand, if the shower is done every day, it is important not to spend a lot of time on the process, since this could also interfere with the proper functioning of the sebaceous glands and dry out the skin.

2. Regulate the temperature for a perfect shower

It is tempting to bathe with hot water, especially in winter. However, using water that is too hot is not a good idea for skin health. Water at high temperatures could remove the natural oil from the skin, leaving it dry and vulnerable. For this reason, it is recommended to use warm water (between 35 and 37 ÂșC).

3. Do not overdo the use of shampoo

The most culturally accepted way of bathing is to cleanse the body from top to bottom starting with the head. However, it is necessary to comment that the daily use of shampoo is not essential when washing your hair.

Ideally, it would be to wash it every three days, except for those in which it has become dirty for a particular reason. This keeps the natural fat of the scalp and remains healthy.

On the other hand, it is not necessary to rub excessively the hair since, if it is delicate, it could break easily. It is recommended to use the fingertips to apply the shampoo and gently massage the scalp to promote blood flow to the scalp.

It is worth remembering that the shampoo can be used to wash the ears. Once the process is finished, the product can be removed with plenty of water. In case of using conditioner, it is best to apply it only on the ends, to avoid excess oil.

4. Beware of sponges

Once the hair and head process is finished, it is time to cleanse the rest of the body. To do this, many people turn to sponges, since they are believed to exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells.

However, the use of these could have the opposite effect than is desired. This, in the first place, is because, if they are not dried or cleaned properly and repeatedly, they could be the perfect environment for the growth of bacteria and fungi. Second, if a very strong sponge is used, it can be irritating, due to the friction that is exerted on the skin.

5. A perfect shower also includes feet

Generally, it is thought that the water that runs off the body is enough to clean the feet, but this is not true. The feet require a rub the same as that given to other areas of the body, to remove all accumulated dirt, bacteria and, of course, dead skin.

Other tips to have a perfect shower

In addition to these tips , at bath time, the following can also be included:

  • Dry your feet well. It is important to do it thoroughly, before getting dressed, to avoid bad odors that originate from humidity.
  • Use unscented soap. This, especially in intimate areas that are more sensitive to certain compounds.
  • Take cold showers. Apparently, showering with cold water at least twice a week could have benefits for circulation.

It is necessary to remember that these tips depend on the preferences of each person. Therefore, it is important to try them, see the benefits and find the one that best suits the routine.
