In case there is an allergy to any component or the product is not available at the moment to eliminate them, you can choose the following remedies. These are made up of ingredients that prevent invaders from surviving and proliferating.

Remedies to eliminate ticks

In general, ticks tend to lodge in greater numbers in those places that are difficult for the pet to access. Thus, the most affected points are: behind the ears, the neck, the folds of the legs and the area around the anus.

Once they are detected, it is important to take the pet to the vet and take a number of steps to control the infestation. And if these insects are found on human skin, it will be necessary to go to the doctor as soon as possible.

1. Chamomile

The scent of chamomile repels ticks, which makes it an excellent remedy to combat them. A cup of water is placed to boil and, once the bubbles begin to appear, the tea bag or the flowers of the plant are added.

Let it rest for a few minutes and, once it is warm, a cotton ball is impregnated and applied to the areas where the ticks are lodged. It should be noted that, to prevent these from returning to our pet, it will be necessary to disinfect the house.

2. Citrus

Citrus repels insects, including ticks. So we can take the concentrated juice of an orange, tangerine, grapefruit or lemon to combat these unwanted guests.

Put half a liter of water to boil and, when it reaches its boiling point, add two slices of the selected citrus fruit. Then, let it rest for a few minutes, with the heat to a minimum.

Once the citrus water is ready, it is allowed to cool and is applied with a spray on the pet’s skin. Of course, you have to be careful not to spray the water on the eyes, inside the ears or the genital area as it can cause irritation and poisoning. With this preparation you can also disinfect the floors and corners of the house.

3. Vinegar

Apple and wine vinegar are very good at killing ticks since they contain acetic acid, a substance capable of killing them. So just moistening a piece of cotton or gauze and pressing it against the tick will be enough to eliminate it.

This remedy can also be applied after the last rinse of the pet’s bathroom. Of course, always avoiding contact with the eyes, nose, and genitals.

Another way to take advantage of the action of vinegar is to combine vinegar with salt to reinforce the effect of acetic acid. This mixture also serves to disinfect the walls, floors and bed of the pet.

2. White wine vinegar, salt and lemon

The combination of these three ingredients constitutes an excellent remedy capable of eliminating fleas and ticks instantly. You just have to mix two tablespoons of vinegar, one of vodka and a few drops of lemon oil and apply directly to the pet’s skin.

The remedy is applied, it is left for a few minutes to act and then it must be removed with plenty of soap and water since it contains lemon and salt, two agents that can cause skin irritations if left too long.

3. Essential oils

Another natural remedy to eliminate fleas and ticks is to boil three cups of water and two tablespoons of the following essential oils: cedar, lavender, thyme, geranium, basil or citronella.

All of these oils contain an aroma that repels invaders instantly. You can reinforce this remedy with a few drops of lemon juice.

And if you live in the yard or garden, you have to put a repellent collar on it and take all the necessary measures to prevent it from being affected by insects such as fleas and ticks.
